Building up an impressive repertoire of kitchen gadgets is every foodie’s dream. Nowadays, there are a huge number of products on the market, designed to make food preparation much easier and perhaps even somewhat humorous!
The Jolly team have shortlisted some of our absolute favourites to share with you in this blog. These are gadgets that we believe conquer common issues when it comes to cooking and food preparation. As well as treating yourself, these gadgets can make excellent presents for fellow foodie friends and family members!
The Devil Oven Pull
The Devil Oven Pull is fantastic as it allows you to check on your dishes and trays in the oven in a safe way. The hooked end allows you to pull forward the dish/rack while your hand stays well away from the heat. It’s also great for avoiding burns and food stains on oven mitts.
The Zipstrip Herb Stripper
At Jolly, we love using fresh herbs in all of our dishes, with some of our favourites being rosemary and thyme. Separating the flavourful leaves from their twiggy branches can be a little tricky. The Zipstrip Herb Stripper is a great solution: you can strip the entire branch, catching the leaves in a little bowl as you do so.
The Stupendous Splendiferous ButterUp
The ultimate lazy man's gadget! There is nothing more irritating than sitting down to breakfast on a Sunday morning to realise that you’ve left the butter in the fridge all night, resulting in rock-solid, unspreadable butter. Have no fear - this knife has serrated edges like a grater which scrape off layers of butter so thin that it will melt instantly, making it spreadable! Hallelujah!
Yude Tama Egg Moulds
These moulds are a great way to bring a bit of fun into your kitchen - egg moulds in the shape of colourful cartoon characters. Be prepared for the most unique hard boiled egg ever! These are also a great way to encourage young children to try eggs.
The Nibble Cake Taster
This is a great one for even the most confident of bakers. There is nothing more nerve wracking than being unsure as to whether a cake has cooked properly before you frost it and serve it, and you can’t always cut a slice out of it to check! The Nibble allows you to bake a bite-sized mini cake alongside the main cake, allowing you to see how your mix has baked without having to sabotage your masterpiece! Genius!
